Magnum 4D Bhd returned to the black in the second quarter ended June 30, 2006, with a net profit of RM37.07 million from a net loss of RM8.78 million a year earlier due to improvements in the prize payout ratio.
It proposed an interim dividend of three sen per share. Revenue rose 17.8% to RM577.02 million from RM489.69 million, aided by a better area agency commission rate and the introduction of the mBox game.
For its first half, it recorded a net profit of RM13.09 million against a net loss of RM1.94 million a year earlier. Revenue rose 10.4% to RM1.17 billion from RM1.06 billion.
In a statement on Aug 23, Magnum 4D attributed the better results to lower expenditure, improved prizes payout ratio during the second quarter as well as contribution from long and short term investments.
On its outlook, it said revenue growth in FY06 was expected to be significantly better than FY05 due to the increase in area agency commission rate with effect from April 1, subject to the payout ratio.
